What We Eat + How We Move = How We Feel!

March is Nutrition Month here in Canada! A time to consider how we nourish and fuel ourselves – in mind, body, and spirit – and learn about developing healthy eating habits. It is also the start of spring and time to refresh and renew ourselves. I am excited to focus this month on sharing my personal insights into the importance of nutrition from my knowledge and with some key strategies that I have found helpful in helping me nourish myself to look and feel my best.

Nutrition is a fascinating topic. However, it can be a complicated subject to master on your own.  Personally, I rely on scientists who study nutrition as a profession to influence my choices and I’m simply sharing knowledge with you.  I’ve had to learn how to make nutrition a priority with my hectic work, exercise training, and travel schedule, and I doubt I’m alone in trying to tackle this part of the health equation, it’s often the most challenging part – and the one that is most easily neglected or drops off when life gets busy. Nutrition is, however, half the battle in building a healthy body, mind, and spirit.

What we Eat + How we Move = How we Feel! Our nutrition habits and physical activity practices both influence the outcome of how we feel. No matter how exemplary your fitness habits are, neglecting your nutrition will prevent you from reaching your ultimate potential of shaping your best mind, body, and spirit. Remember, you can’t drive without fuel (and the right fuel) in the gas tank.

Implementing and succeeding with health and behaviour change is challenging. Too often we want to see things happen right away and become very objective focused. Having goals and knowledge is great, but that does not always translate into action. We need to develop consistency and choose simple strategies that we are confident in accomplishing every single day. Small changes can have a massive impact with consistent implementation and create a compound effect. Once you have developed one habit, you can add another one and another one to create progressive change and MO’mentum. This is the principle of habit stacking. With the habits you choose to implement, the simpler and more specific the habit, the better! Trust me, you will generate a much greater MO’mentum and MO’tivation to keep MO’ving forward!!!

MO’s 4 Weeks to Healthier Nutrition Habits Challenge

This month, I have developed a simple system with four of what I consider my MO’st important and influential nutrition habits and strategies to serve and support you in raising the “What You Eat” part of the equation. Week 1: Start Your Day with a Green Shake

I love starting my days with a ‘green’ (vegan, gluten, dairy, and soy free) protein smoothie! Starting the day with a healthy habit influences a healthy mindset and attitude, which is incredibly MO’tivating. This is one of my simplest and trusted strategies to boost my nutrition. The ageLOC® TR90® GreenShake is my go-to green shake. Just throw two scoops into a blender with your favorite shake ingredients and let it do its thing! Starting the day with a delicious green shake is going to make you feel great, satisfy your hunger, and sets you up stronger and better prepared for what the rest of your day presents.

Week 2: Add a Digestive Complex

Digestive enzymes are more important than one might realize. They help our bodies break down food into it its component parts and release the nutrients our body can then absorb and use. Not having enough digestive enzymes, can lead to digestive issues such as indigestion, bloating, and abdominal pain which prevent us from feeling our greatest and benefitting from our nutrition. This is the Digestive Complex I take, and you only need to take one capsule before a meal.

Week 3: Pick up a Pro-Biotic

Pro-biotics are live micro-organisms also known as the “good bacteria”. They do a variety of incredibly important functions in our bodies such as maintaining a healthy community of micro-organisms in your body, support and improve your digestive health, and enhanced immune function. There is more research needed to discover all the potential health benefits of probiotics Having a good quality probiotic is essential. The  ProBio PCC® is my preferred pro-biotic.

Week 4: Layer in the LifePak® Vitamin & Mineral Supplement

As the saying goes, I have saved the best for last! I consider the LifePak® Vitamin & Mineral Supplement is an incredibly advanced nutritional supplement with anti-aging benefits that improve and support your antioxidant defense network by supplying a comprehensive blend of nutrients. We try our best, but we can’t always be.

Remember to download the habit tracker to help you stay on track and record your progress! It’s been found that people who keep score and track their habits are more successful at creating and sustaining those habits!  Also, what you focus on expands.

Small changes add up and one change can set you on a fresh course, firing up MO’mentum and MO’tivation that will spill over into other aspects of your life. I cannot say enough about the importance of feeding your body with good nutrition.  When your body functions better so do you!
